Alice’s Priorities and Goals

Working towards these objectives will ensure Your Voice Matters.

Economy

We must work together to promote Auburn and do all that we can to help stimulate and diversify our local economy, increase local revenues, and create jobs. This includes bringing in new businesses while nurturing our local business community. Auburn thrives when our businesses thrive.

Public Safety

With the threat of wildfire high in our community, and the increase in certain criminal activity, working hard to ensure a safe, enjoyable and prosperous community are my core priorities. I will not only work in-step with our police and fire departments to make sure they have the resources needed to protect Auburn, but will promote regional, State and federal partnership to accomplish these goals as well.

Housing

The housing needs in our community are vast. I will focus our resources proactively, monitor and shape policies and respond to emerging issues, and I will look towards innovative and creative ways to meet our housing needs.

Tourism

Auburn has become an international destination for outdoor recreation and endurance events, which means that we can leverage our reputation as the Endurance Capital of the World® to enhance our community by recruiting businesses to support these activities such as boutique hotels, specialized retail and services, and hospitality. Alice is proud of her efforts to secure Chamonix-Mont Blanc in France as a Friendship City based on their commitment to the endurance sport.

Civic

Auburn has an incredibly strong civic-minded community. I will continue to work with our nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to add to our high quality of life.

Fiscal Responsibility

Due in part to the increase in unfunded liabilities associated with PERS, an increase in staffing costs, and an overestimation of projected sales tax, the City now faces a structural deficit. We must take action now to make mindful spending cuts and create new revenue streams in part through aggressive economic development. We must be bold in our approach and be willing to consider smart annexation as part of the solution.

As a long-time Auburn resident, I am here to ensure your voice matters. My experience as a current council member and former mayor, and a member of our civic community means I will work for all of Auburn.

Some of Alice’s Achievements

Current Auburn Council Member + Former Mayor

Took actions that led to a $2+ million revenue increases despite the onset of the State’s economic downturn.

Chief Deputy Cabinet Secretary to the California Governor

Developed and coordinated the Governor’s direct crisis management to State and local emergencies, such as Placer County’s Angora Fire.

Sacramento County Civil Service Commission Executive Officer

Initiated new practices and protocols to ensure that all appeals filed with the Commission are managed as expeditiously and as effectively as possible so as to not delay justice.
